Experts from the State Forensic Science Bureau visit the Estonian Forensic Science Institute in Tallinn

As part of the implementation of activity 3.2.5 of the EEA Grants project No. EEZ/TM/2022/7 “Strengthening of the capacity of forensic system and inspection of the site of the event” Zigismunds Ganuļevičs, Head of the Thanatology Department and Senior Forensic Medical Expert, Jūlija Truskovska, Forensic Medical Expert of the Thanatology Department, Juris Ivulāns, Head of the Clinical Forensic Medicine Department and Senior Forensic Medical Expert, Jana Kamiševa, Forensic Medical Expert of the Valmiera Regional Department, Sergejs Krasiļņikovs, Head of the Forensic Medical Criminalistics Laboratory and Senior Forensic Medical Expert, Karīna Avišāne, Forensic Medical Expert of the Forensic Medical Criminalistics Laboratory, Sergejs Dubencovs, Senior Forensic Medical Expert of the Forensic Histology Laboratory, and Aleksandra Aļekperova, Forensic Medical Expert of the Forensic Genetics and Serology Laboratory, visited the Estonian Forensic Science Institute in Tallinn for an experience-sharing visit from November 8th to 12th, 2023.

During the visit, the Centre’s experts familiarized themselves with the structure and operations of the Institute; the organization and procedures for conducting forensic medical examinations of living and deceased persons in Estonia; the process of commission examinations for determining health status and cases related to the professional activities of physicians; the application of the ISO 17020 standard in the quality management system; and visited the Institute’s laboratories.
