DIC invites STEM and STEAM teachers to an educational workshop

On January 11, in the co-creation space of the Daugavpils Innovation Center (DIC) (Vienības iela 30, Daugavpils) from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., there will be an informative and educational seminar for STEM and STEAM teachers, organized by DIC in cooperation with Trondheim Science Center (Norway) experts. The programme of the seminar includes practical lessons in groups, as well as information on public involvement in education, teacher training methods, exchange of experience on the implementation of educational programmes of science and innovation centers and their connection with the school’s learning process and programme.

The informative and educational seminar aims to increase the capacity of STEM and STEAM teachers through educational activities. The workshop will focus on practical operation to gain new skills and knowledge in the construction and programming of a simple traffic light controlled by the micro:bit microcontroller. The task of the hands-on activity is to teach participants the basics of using a microcontroller, using a traffic light as an example of how it could be used in the classroom.

The seminar led by Trondheim Science Center experts will stimulate new ideas, discover new methods and promote the transfer of good practices between Norwegian and Latvian STEM and STEAM specialists.

The seminar will be held in English and participants will receive certificates after it. Each participant needs to bring their own laptop.
