Educational institutions are invited to apply for the environmental management interest education programme

Liepaja Municipality Education Department’s Science and Education Innovation Center (ZIIC) co-creation place Nature House announces an application to educational institutions for studying interest education programme “Environmental Management”. Education programme is developed for preschoolers and pupils aged 5 to 10 years.

In September, October, November and December, students from all over Latvia have the opportunity to study the “Environmental Management” programme, which consists of seven innovative lessons – “Ant Researcher”, “Protected Natural Areas”, “Water Quality”, “Young Botanist”, “New ecotechnologist”, “Bird researcher” and “Young geographer”. Installations and interactive methods of the co-creation space “Nature House” will be used in the lessons, creating an understanding of life, the ecosystem, processes occurring in nature, studying them both practically and theoretically.

The interest education programme is designed to develop students’ understanding and deepen their interest about the environment and natural sciences, which include ecology and environmental science. By learning the lessons in an interactive way, everyone interested will be taught a gentle attitude towards any living organism and understand of their importance in creating a full-fledged and healthy ecosystem. Learners will get to know such fields as hydrobiology, entomology, eco-technology, botany, ornithology, geography and environmental protection, protected natural areas, anatomy and geology.

Reimbursement of transport costs is provided to educational institutions. Additional information on the transport compensation regulations is available on the ZIIC website.

How to apply:

• The application to the education programme is available only electronically on the ZIIC website, by filling in the reservation form and attaching all supporting documents;
• Registration takes place from 29.08.22. till 09.09.22, or until 10 applications have been received (whichever comes first);
• ZIIC administration will contact educational institutions whose application has been approved.

Interest education program “Environmental Management” is being implemented within the project “Development of the Innovation Centre in Liepaja City” funded by the European Economic Area and the Norway grant programme “Research and Education”.  The total budget is EUR 986 049.00, of which EUR 754 327.40 is co-financing by the Norway grants, EUR 133 116.60 is co-financed by the State budget of Latvia and EUR 98 605.00 by Liepaja City Municipality.
