In the autumn of 2020, a project* of national significance was launched, within which is planned development of additional climate change policy planning tools, including enhancement of national warning system regarding hidrometeorological phenomena, as well as updating Latvia’s climate change scenarios by 2100 and national coastal erosion assessment considering climate change scenarios. The project also plans to develop a framework for collection and provision of regional data to supply regional climate change policy planning and implementation and to develop an electronic database on ozone depleting substances and F-gases.

*In November 2020, within the Norway grants programme “Climate Change Mitigation, Adaptation and Environment” operated by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development (MoEPRD), the project “Integration of climate change policy in sectoral and regional policies” was launched by the MoEPRD together with Latvian partners – Central Statistical Bureau, State limited Liability Company “Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center”, as well as Norwegian partner ‑ Norwegian Environment Agency.
