Today, on 17 November 2021, a meeting of the Cooperation Committee of the Norway Grants Climate and Environment Programme took place. During the meeting, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development (MoEPRD) together with the Donor programme partner – the Norwegian Environment Agency, discussed the progress and key issues of the Climate and Environment Programme.

The representatives of the pre-defined project promoters from the MoEPRD and the Ministry of Agriculture informed about the progress made so far in integration of climate change aspects into sectoral and regional policies that will be improved in Latvia and about improvement of sustainable management of soil resources in Latvia, which will make an invaluable contribution to the public.

During the meeting, the amendments to the Programme agreement was also discussed in relation with the new pre-defined project “Digital transformation of the contaminated site management model” promoted by the State Environmental Service, which can be implemented by using the surplus funding of the Open Call to improve the contaminated sites management model.

In conclusion, the representatives of the Norway  praised the progress of the implementation of the Programme and the work that has been done. Also the Ambassador of Norway to Latvia – H.E.
