Riga Stradins University (RSU), Latvian Academy of Culture (LKA), Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LLU) and Riga Technical University (RTU) will implement mobility projects in scholarship activity of European Economic Area and Norwegian grant (EEA/N) programme “Research and education”. To get acquainted with the project implementation, representatives of higher education institutions will meet in an online seminar organized by the State Education Development Agency, which will be held on October 21st.
In order to promote international cooperation, higher education institutions will implement projects together with higher education institutions in Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein. RTU will develop a mobility project on innovation promotion, sharing and learning from best international practices, LLU mobility project will study the antimicrobial properties of cow’s and goat’s milk, LKA will implement student mobility to European Economic Area (EEA) countries, strengthening closer cooperation with long-term partners – Agireiri University and Volda University, while the theme of the RSU mobility project, concerns healthy ageing, well-being and social security. Higher education institutions will start implementing projects from September 2021. The projects must be implemented by 30 April 2024. Implementation costs for projects vary from 19 thousand euros to 117 thousand euros, but the total amount of projects reaches 246,880 euros.
The scholarship activity contributes to higher education and research, reducing economic and social disparities in the European Economic Area, strengthening bilateral relations and promoting exchanges between donor countries and Latvia. The implementation of scholarship activity projects supports the development of in-depth, research-based knowledge to improve the skills and competencies of doctoral students, master’s, bachelor’s and professional study program students, academic and administrative university staff in the field of higher education and research.
The manager of the EEA/N grant programme “Research and Education” is the Ministry of Education and Science, which is responsible for the implementation of the program in Latvia. VIAA, in its turn, as a programme implementer performs project evaluation, implementation monitoring and control. The scholarship activity is funded by European Economic Area (EEA) grants.
