Sustainable management of soil resources will be improved in Latvia

On 27 January 2021, the Ministry of Agriculture starts the implementation of the Norway Grants Climate and Environment Programme of pre‑defined project “Enhancement of sustainable soil resource management in agriculture” with the aim to improve climate policy planning by restoring data on national soil.

The project will be implemented in cooperation with the University of Latvia, the State Plant Protection Service, the Latvian Forest Science Institute SILAVA and the Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomics Research from 1 February 2021 to 31 January 2024.

The implementation of the pre-defined project will contribute to sustainable land resource management and strengthen the capacity to adapt to climate change and preserve ecosystems. The implementation of the pre-defined project will help achieve international and European climate change targets and reporting requirements.

Total eligible costs for the implementation of the pre-defined project are EUR 1,835,369, including funding from the Norway Grants of EUR 1,560,063.65 and national co-financing of EUR 275,305.35.

Working together for a green Europe!
