The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development as a Programme operator for the Programme “Climate Change Mitigation, Adaptation and Environment” organized international experience exchange event on the 12th and 13th of June. The partners from Norway and beneficiaries of the European Economic Area and Norway grants programmes from 10 countries were attended the event introducing with the results achieved within the Programmes.
The participants of the event visited the State Environmental Service to get acquainted with digitalized management system of contaminated sites developed within the project “Digital transformation of the contaminated site management model”. All participants also paid a visit to the Operative Coordination Centre who performs environmental monitoring.
In Saulkrasti the participants of the event learnt about efforts towards the environment and in coastal maintenance carried out by a local municipality. The representatives of the Ministry of Climate and Energy introduced with the significant results achieved within the Norway grants project “Integration of climate change policy in sectoral and regional policies”. Furthermore, assessment on coastal erosion along the Baltic Sea coastal line in the territory of Latvia and its methodology was presented, as well as e-learning module on climate change for employees of municipalities was demonstrated.
Around 40 participants took part in theexperience exchange event representing the Financial Mechanism Office, and partner organizations from donor countries – the Norwegian Environment Agency, the Royal Norwegian Embassies in Latvia and Estonia, and representatives from the Czech Republic, Greece, Croatia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia representing climate end environment programmes of the European Economic Area and Norway grants. An experience exchange event was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Climate of Estonia. In the previous days the project visits were organized in Estonia.
