The Science and Education Innovation Center opens applications for free access to the Technology Co-creation Space

Application for free open access to Liepaja Municipal Education department Science and Education Innovation Centre (ZIIC) Technology Co-creation Space has been announced for students aged 11 to 18, university students and teachers.

Free access will be available:

● On June 2 from 13.00 to 16.00

● On June 7 from 13.00 to 16.00

● On June 9 from 13.00 to 16.00

● On June 14 from 13.00 to 16.00

● On June 16 from 13.00 to 16.00

As the project “Development of Innovation Center in Liepaja city” enters it`s final stage, we invite you to familiarize yourself with the material and technical base of the Technology Co-creation Space and the activities started in 2023 at Klāva Ukstiņa Street 17/23. The technology co-creation space is one of the places of activity of the Science and Education Innovation Center, which is mainly intended for learners and educators, but with the future perspective of providing full access to every resident of Liepāja for the purpose of acquiring modern knowledge and skills necessary for the labor market. The material and technical base of the technology co-creation space allows for the development of design thinking, engineering skills and individual project management.

During free access, you will be offered the opportunity to familiarize yourself with such workstations as a vinyl cutting station, a laser cutting station, an electronics station, a small 3-axis CNC milling station, a metalworking station, a PLA (polylactic acid) and SLA (stereolithography) technology 3D printer station, a vacuum forming station, a woodworking station, electrical engineering station, microscope station, CAD station, combined technology station and composite materials station.

During the free access, it will be possible to practically try out the operation at the stations, work on specific desire ant to develop owns idea.

To apply for free access:

1. Pre-registration is mandatory and possible electronically by filling out the reservation application form – https://ziic.liepaja.edu.lv/aptauja/brivpiekluves-laiks/

2. Registration continues until all available times are filled.

3. The maximum number of participants for one-day free access is 15 (fifteen).

4. Applications will be considered in order of application and the Center’s administration will contact the applicant to approve the application.

Free access to the Technology co-creation space is implemented within the project “Development of the Innovation Centre in Liepaja City” that is funded by the EEA/N grant programme “Research and Education”. Its total cost is EUR 986 049.00, of which EUR 754 327.40 is co-financing of the Norwegian Financial Instrument, EUR 133 116.60 is co-financed by the State budget of Latvia and EUR 98 605.00 by Liepaja City Municipality.
