The second Call of the EEA Grants Scholarship Activity has ended

The LCA submitted a project “Student Mobility to EEA Countries 2” aiming to implement student mobility at the University of Volda in Norway for one semester. At the same time RSU will improve the quality of studies, program content, teaching methods and cooperation in research in the field of nutrition through the project “Staff Mobility between Riga Stradins University and the University of Iceland for scientific cooperation in the field of nutrition science”. Within the project five outgoing and two incoming teacher mobility acitivities are planned.
The budget amount of the submitted projects reaches 27 170 euros, of which the LCA has applied for 14 450 euros and RSU for 12 720 euros.

In the 2nd project selection call of “Scholarship” activity the State Education Development Agency (VIAA) invited Latvian higher education institutions to submit mobility projects for students, academic and administrative staff to promote in-depth and research-based knowledge exchange and cooperation in higher education between Latvia and Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland.

The scholarship activity is intended to improve the skills and competencies of doctoral students, master’s, bachelor’s and professional study programme students, academic and administrative staff, as well as to supplement the knowledge of project about higher education and research.

The total funding avaliable in this second project selection call of “Scholarship” activity is 335 986 euros, including co-financing. European Economic Area (EEA) grant funding is 285 588.10 euros, while Latvian state budget co-financing is 50 397.90 euros. The approved projects will be able to obtain from 10 000 to 200 000 euros. The co-financing rate for the project is up to 100%, of which the Latvian state budget co-financing is 15% and the EEA co-financing is 85%.

VIAA will start evaluation process in April and the results will be announced in June.

The call is organized by VIAA in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science and the Norwegian Directorate of Higher Education and Skills. The Research and Education program is funded by EEA / NO grants, while the Scholarship activity is funded by EEA grants. The scholarship activity contributes to higher education and research, reducing economic and social disparities in the European Economic Area, strengthening bilateral relations and promoting exchanges between donor countries and Latvia.
