The Minister for Justice of the Republic of Latvia Dzintars Rasnačs and Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Latvia Steinar Egil Hagen on 24 November 2017 expressed their mutual appreciation for the cooperation in the framework of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism planning period of 2009 – 2014, improving and developing the correctional services system in Latvia. Dzintars Rasnačs expressed his appreciation of both the financial support from Norway, and the invaluable base of knowledge received during the implementation of programme LV08 “Reform of the Latvian Correctional Services and Police Detention Centres”. The accomplishments of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism period prove that socio-economic disparity can be reduced and excellent, close and friendly cooperation can be built through joint collaboration. Both parties expressed hope and eagerness to collaborate on the next Norwegian Financial Mechanism planning period of 2014 – 2021.
