VIAA approves the projects submitted in the 2nd Call of the EEA scholarship activity

State Education Development Agency (VIAA) approved the projects submitted in the 2nd call of “Scholarships” activity of the European Economic Area and Norway Grants (EEA/NO) programme “Research and Education”. Applications for projects for the mobility of university students and teaching staff were submitted by the Latvian Academy of Culture (LKA) and Riga Stradiņš University (RSU).

LKA will implement the project “Student mobility to EEA countries 2”, where students will be able to study at Volda University in Norway for one semester. In turn, RSU will launch the project “Personnel mobility between Riga Stradins University and the University of Iceland for scientific cooperation in the field of nutrition science” in order to improve the quality of studies, program content, teaching methods and research cooperation in the field of nutrition science. The project plans five outgoing and two incoming teacher mobilities.

European Economic Area grants in the amount of 27,170 euros have been allocated to mobility projects, of which LKA receives 14,450 euros, and RSU – 12,720 euros. The projects will be implemented within 12 months from the date of conclusion of the project contract. The duration of the project can be 12, 24 or 30 months. The implementation of the projects is planned to start in the 3rd quarter of 2022.

The scholarship activity is intended to improve the skills and competences of doctoral students, students of master’s, bachelor’s and professional study programs, academic and administrative staff, as well as to supplement the knowledge of project participants about higher education and research.

The programme “Research and education” is financed by EEA/NO grants. Scholarship activity contributes to higher education and research, reducing economic and social differences in the European Economic Area, strengthening bilateral relations and promoting exchanges between donor countries and Latvia.
