New opportunities to support the implementation of business ideas in Latgale

On January 28, 2021, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the Regulation for the implementation of the Small Grant Scheme “Support for the implementation of business ideas in Latgale” to promote employment and small business development in the Latgale region with the support of EEA grants.

The Small Grant Scheme will support projects that will implement a new idea and create at least one new job in the Latgale region. The co-financing of the programme available for the Small Grant Scheme is 540 000 euros. The co-financing of the programme available for one project is between 5,000 and 10,000 euros, and the co-financing aid intensity does not exceed 55% of the total eligible costs of the project.

Launching the implementation of the Small Grant Scheme is planned for the spring of 2021 and it is planned to support almost all business areas. Any individual and legal person – a small or micro-enterprise, can apply for support if it carries out its economic activity in the Latgale region. The Small Grant Scheme operator is Latgale Planning Region. Eligible activities of the project include support for the creation of new products or services, the improvement of existing products, a significant increase in production capacity or a significant change in production processes, as well as the improvement of the efficiency of existing services. The implementation of the projects does not exceed 30 April 2024.
