EEA grants will support projects to promote access to professional contemporary art and culture for children and youth

On January 28, 2021, the Cabinet of Ministers approved Regulations for the implementation of the Open Call “Support for the creation of professional art and cultural products for children and youth”, which will enable Latvian and donor state organizations to create new cultural products and services for children and youth and enhance the development of competences of culture understanding and expression.

Cultural and creative institutions and organizations operating in the field of professional contemporary art and culture can submit project applications in the Open Call, as well as municipalities and their institutions if they involve one of the cultural or creative institutions or organizations as a project partner. At the same time, the project must be implemented in cooperation with at least one donor state (Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein) partner acting in the cultural or creative sector.

The total European Economic Area Financial Instrument 2014-2021 programme “Local Development, Poverty Reduction and Cultural Cooperation” co-financing available in the Open Call is EUR 3 192 353. The allowable Programme co-financing for one project is from EUR 100 000 to EUR 250 000. The maximum project grant rate available for one project for NGOs is 100% while for legal entities – 85%.

The Open Call is planned to be announced in two rounds in the spring of 2021 and at the end of the year. The Ministry of Culture as the program partner organizes the Open Call and evaluates the projects.
