Progress of the programme “Local Development, Poverty Reduction and Cultural Cooperation” was discussed

Intensive work is underway to ensure the implementation of the EEA Grants Program “Local Development, Poverty Reduction and Cultural Cooperation”. In cooperation with the donor programme partners KS International Projects, Kulturrådet and the program partner Ministry of Culture videoconference was held in October 2020 to discuss the progress of the program, bilateral cooperation and the impact of Covid-19 on the implementation of the program.

The Ambassador of the Norway to Latvia Kristian Ødegaard also expressed the importance of the programme and its impact on local development in these special times, hoping that the programme’s support will help to strengthen Latvia’s ability to overcome the consequences of the economic crisis caused by Covid-19 in the regions of Latvia.

At the meeting of the Cooperation Committee, the participants discussed the possibilities to adapt the planned activities and continue their implementation even in the identified restrictive circumstances, making more use of the possibilities offered by digital tools. The ways of implementing the programme’s bilateral cooperation fund initiatives in the online environment were discussed, and as a result, a three-day informative seminar for programme cultural project applicants will be organized, thus providing potential project partners with an opportunity to exchange cultural news and share ideas for joint projects. The event is planned this year in early December.
